Conforama launches a visual recognition function on its e-commerce site

The website conforama.fr offers a new feature to find a product from a photo. The technology was developed by Syte, an Israeli start-up specializing in visual recognition.
Conforama announced in mid-June a new product search feature by photo to find on its website a product photographed from a smartphone, tablet or computer. The service then offers customers a selection of identical or similar products, depending on the product or products sought, in order of relevance. This feature is added to the search via the various sections of the site and the search bar by keyword or product code.

From the site conforama.fr, the user clicks a dedicated icon, loads a visual from his photos, then accesses a selection of identical or very close products among all the references. The user can then follow a classic shopping journey. "We had to pioneer this technology that will allow our customers to find very easily and instantly a product spotted at a friend's house, in a restaurant, on TV or browsing the web and who will also soon join the Kingfisher group (owner of the competing brand Castorama), according to our colleagues from LSA. This new technology was developed by Syte, an Israeli start-up specializing in visual recognition. The solution, dedicated to the world of retail and based on the AI, allows users to buy a reference from any image. Once Syte's camera is enabled on an e-commerce site, buyers can upload a photo and purchase the most visually-close results in the merchant's catalog. Syte's InstaSearch breaks down each attribute of the image and binds them to textual tags (product category, color, pattern, material, gender, shot). The young shoot also collects data to facilitate predictive analysis and provide trend forecasts.
